One Yellow Rabbit presents

Up Close

Alberta Ballet

See Alberta's premier ballet company like you've never seen them before - up close and personal.

Last season, Alberta Ballet presented the first Up Close in a 100-seat studio featuring choreography by Yukichi Hattori, and all nine performances sold out in one day. Alberta Ballet and the High Performance Rodeo have now expanded the evening to include the work of three incredible choreographers in the intimacy of the Martha Cohen Theatre.

Up Close features Alberta Ballet's full company of thirty-one dancers in three innovative programs choreographed by Yukichi Hattori, Alexandrous Ballard, and Calgary's own Denise Clarke.

In Dump The Physical Memory, by Yukichi Hattori, the men of Alberta Ballet explore the balance between discipline and freedom, positive and negative, harmony and chaos, on a journey towards inner peace.

Denise Clarke's p.s. i love you takes Alberta Ballet's female dancers through cosmic heartache to the wondrous music of Joanna Newsom.

Rounding out the evening, Alexandrous Ballard's Ruin Time is an athletic and visceral duet exploring "ruin time", a phenomenon in which cultural significance accumulates through the passage and weight of time.

Tickets are available online, by calling 403.294.9494 or at the EPCOR CENTRE Box Office, on the main floor at 225 8th Ave SE.
