Calgary keyboardist and vocal powerhouse Kenna Burima is famed for her plaintive piano score and knack for writing songs that straddle the line between darkness and beauty. She’s lent her mad keyboard skills and smoking vocal chops to many a beloved local band. Now, with a solid debut album under her belt Kenna Burima is making her mark.

Always Look Forward to Tuesdays tells the story of a weekly dance class for people with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. Part of a national research project, it uses personal perspectives to illustrate how dancing contributes to quality of life. Creator and director Anne Flynn is a Dance Studies scholar, a tireless advocate of dance in education and community, and Professor at the University of Calgary.
 
DAVE BIDINI

Dave Bidini is the only person to have been nominated for a Gemini, Genie, Juno and CBC’s Canada Reads. He is a founding member of the acclaimed rock band the Rheostatics, and has published 12 books, including the Toronto Book Award-nominated Writing Gordon Lightfoot. He has made two Gemini Award-nominated documentaries, and his play, The Five Hole Stories, toured the country in 2008. He currently performs with Bidiniband, whose third album, The Motherland, was released in spring 2014.
