Due to popular demand, the venue for DEEP AEROBICS has changed to Theatre Junction GRAND. Tickets issued for the Royal Canadian Legion #1 will be honoured at the door.
Death Electric Emo Protest Aerobics aka DEEP AEROBICS is a workout form invented and shamelessly disseminated by New York-based choreographer Miguel Gutierrez, who hopes to soon destroy the technique, because it’s just too hard to teach, and the world is going to hell in a hand basket anyway.

DEEP AEROBICS is a participatory spectacle - one hour-plus of the communal/political/conceptual/imaginational workout experience. And it’s a movement, it’s a transformative experience for the mind/body/spirit/genital matrix.

Gutierrez asks that each participant come in costume. Please push your imagination beyond the 80’s! Stylists will be present with materials for on-site costume adjustments as necessary.

DEEP AEROBICS is open to everyone of all abilities.

Miguel Gutierrez, a dance and music artist based in New York, USA, has been called “one of our most provocative and necessary artistic voices” by Dance Magazine. Gutierrez says that his work is “philosophical inquiry disguised as performance.”

Participants are encouraged to come in costume - Aren’t you glad you saved that spandex!

What they're saying:

"It was a mixture of a party, a kindergarten drama class — “You’re a dandelion, floating in the wind” — and a religious revival meeting. (“I love you!” everyone shouted at one point, rushing around hugging one another.) It was the best aerobics class..."
- Roslyn Sulcas, New York Times
