Nordic Greats
Co-presented by One Yellow Rabbit and Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
Violinist Eldbørg Hemsing was already a household name in her native country when she began championing Norwegian masterworks like Borgstrøm’s Violin Concerto, a late Romantic tribute to the country’s arresting mountains, valleys, and fjords.
Capturing the landscape and folk spirit of Norway is the world premiere collaboration: Calgary's own Yukichi Hattori choreographs Rune’s favourite selections from “Peer Gynt!”
Led by the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra's Music Director Rune Bergmann, this concert will introduce Norwegian violinist Eldjørg Hemsing and feature dancers choreographed by Calgary's own Yukichi Hattori. This concert reunites Hemsing and Bergmann, previously have performed together with the Szczecin Philharmonic in Poland.
"This concert is very close to my heart," says Bergmann. "I'm looking forward to sharing some of my favourite music from Norway, my home country."
